Steve Krongard & Jodi Buren have traveled the world shooting for a who's who of the world's great magazines and corporations. They bring their craft, vision and warmth to events that they photograph, capturing life's most special moments in an unscripted way.
Jodi's subjects have ranged from Barbra Streisand, Shacquille O’Neil and Ted Koppel to children, puppies, Bar Mitzvahs and Weddings. Her editorial and corporate clients include The New York Times Magazine, Life, Sports Illustrated, Time, Fortune and Newsweek as well as IBM, American Express, American Home Products, GTE and AT&T, to name only a select few.
Ms. Buren attended the University of Pennsylvania and received a BA in Photojournalism from the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University. She spent a year in London where she became a licentiate member of The Royal Photographic Society. She went on to assist Magnum photographer Eve Arnold and Jay Maisel. Those experiences led her to a style that responds to her clients needs, steered by her own intuition. Her portraits are marked by an incisive sensitivity, coupled with an uncompromising technical virtuosity. Her specialty is her warmth as well as her ability to portray her subjects honestly.
Jodi’s Book, “ SuperWomen: 100 Athletes - 100 Sports” is an inspirational and stunning coffee table book of portraits and interviews.
An exhibit of the photographs sponsored by Rolex debuted in Chicago at The Museum of Science & Industry and has appeared in 6 other cities.
Early in his career, Steve was referred to as one of the “top 100 photojournalists in the world” (ABC News), and invited to participate in the famed “Day in the Life” Book series. These experiences photographing in China, USSR, Japan, Italy and numerous other countries helped foster his ability to create extraordinary photographs from ordinary situations in an unobtusive way. Because of this artistic range, his photographs have been published in most major magazines, as well as numerous Annual Reports and Advertising Campaigns. He has received many awards for these photographs, and in 2006 was named one of the top 100 wedding photojournalists in the world.
His approach to photographing Weddings is candid and unobtrusive, a personal photojournalism with warmth.
His artistic approach is client centered, not formulaic or run of the mill.
Over the years, he has shared his unique perspective on the art and business of photography with thousands of students in workshops and lectures around the world. He spoke and showed his work at the Smithsonian Museums guest Artist Series. He has taught at the School of Visual Arts, and at FIT. At the request of the Australian Photographers Association, his nationwide TV and Radio promotion tour helped start the process of more copyright protection for that country’s Photographers. He served as National President of The Advertising Photographers of America, where he was instrumental in helping to produce the APA Awards Book. He is one of Canon’s original “Explorers of Light”, and his personal library is represented by Getty Images.
